20 dinge wat getroudes jou nie sê nie

Ek is hierdie jaar vyf jaar getroud.

Hierdie mooi jumpsuit nommertjie kos jou R650 in winkels.

Jis, was ek boos.

Hy staan 57 followers sterk. Ek vat hom uit as hy 100 maak.

12 Julle begin van dieselfde TV-reekse hou. Hy was so kwaad vir Chuck Bass se pa toe hy die besigheid terugvat in Gossip Girl terwyl ek gehuil het toe Terminator dood gaan. Kom Arnie, probeer probeer!

Niks is buite perke nie. Perongeluk ‘n trippel-ken foto geneem? Stuur dadelik aan vir manlief.

17 Jy wil hom iets aan doen, dalk so vier keer ‘n week. Dis normaal!

Volg my op Instagram by annette_dewet en laat weet my watter stories julle meer van wil Sien.

Always, Anne

Boss babes have off days too

Never be afraid to speak up if you are not okay.

Lately I have been working hard on chasing my goals – just a pity you don’t burn calories while at it….

Oh well, I managed to tick all of them off and I am beyond ready for the next exciting chapter on this roller coaster ride even though I won’t be able to spill all the beans just yet.

Always Anne Strolla Cape Town

BUT

For a few months I wanted to give up… give up on the career I have chosen when I was only five years old and just move to a small town with a stress-free job working from 9-5 making someone else rich. Overall I just wanted to give up on life for so many personal reasons (yes, boss babes have off days too!)

Annette de Wet Woolworths

The turning point was when I caught myself sitting on the pavement in Strand Street (Cape Town CBD) two weeks ago with no ambition left, no fight inside me and 100% not in the mood for living.

I remember phoning my mom and telling her I’m done. With fashion. With friends. With life.

I don’t know how she did it, but after an one hour or three of mommy talk she managed (from 1000 km away) to get my bum on the bus and making some important healthy appointments I won’t bore you with. It came as no surprise that I was suffering from some medical issues which resulted in me not having the usual go-getter attitude or energy to run a 10km looking like I woke up like this.

WHAT’S YOUR POINT, ANNE? (you might ask)

No matter what you are going through in life, it only takes the first step to get better. Just make the call, send that email, do that gym class, make a medical appointment, join a support group, opt for the fruit salad instead of the cheesecake – only one step to a happier and healthier you!

Since I’ve made a few changes, life’s been good – gosh, I even dropped 2 kilograms!

Annette de Wet Cape Town Stylist

Whatever you’re going through in life right now, you are not alone and please don’t ever be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Don’t suffer in silence. That’s just not okay.

If you want to talk to someone, drop me an email any hour of the day.

You got this, boo!

12 Sex & the City quotes I love

Closet like Carrie and Money like Big!

Like Carrie Bradshaw I live, eat and breath fashion and both of us can’t wear white without spilling…

Fortunately, like Carrie, I also found my Mr. Big and our love is (sorry for the pun) BIG!

I collaborated with 3 bloggers and we did a city themed fashion shoot captured by Roam Free Photography. This has been such an exciting shoot as I got to experience 3 powerful women showing their inner confidence and also their support for other inspiring women with goals and dreams.

ENJOY!

Always, Anne

Life is better when you’re ‘brunching’

Because it is the best meal of the day!

My name is Annette and I’m a brunchaholic! Boom.

I’d choose a late breakfast with friends any day over late night clubbing. I don’t know if it’s an age thing (27 is not that old!) but nothing beats the smell of a skinny cappuccino and crispy bacon on a Saturday morning after an intense week of deadlines at work.

One of the perks of being a Capetonian is the fact that you are overflooded with amazing brunch spots from wine farms to oceans views to super chic city vibes – the options are endless!

What I love even more about Cape Town fashion is that you can wear your gym wear as day wear and rock the athleisure trend like a babe. Totally why I am obsessed with Cotton On‘s fitness inspired collections! Comfy yet super stylish. #OnFleek

Small town girl

Growing up on a farm taught me a lot of things.

“Just a small town girl…”

My brother and I was fortunate to grow up on a farm with so much exploring to do. Every day.

We (yes, him included) played with my barbies in the mud, discovered our own little hiking trails in the farm’s beautiful mountains and spend most afternoons on our bicycles looking for new adventures.

I had no idea what the freeway was and that it even existed! #SHOCKINGBUTTRUE

Although I was quite the tomboy, I lived for family events over weekends when my mom dressed me up in the most adorable dresses with an overload of bows and sparkle.

We hardly ever went to the city and on the rare occasion it happened, my brother and I would always stare at all the city lights and dream about one day…

Being from the countryside taught me to always be humble and treat everyone with respect and most importantly, you have to work hard if you want to make something out of your life. There’s no other way around it.

People are always shocked when I tell them where I am from and how I actually love spending time outdoors. It’s just who I am.

Never judge a book by its cover. Pick it up and read the first chapter at least.

Always, Anne

More me less you

I’ve learned the hard way that it is OKAY to put yourself first.

“My attitude is based on how you treat me.”

Surround yourself with people who make you feel happy and valued. Skip the ones who only text you when they need something and completely block the ones out of your life who wish you nothing but the worst. The jealous ones, the negative ones who think the world owes them everything and recently I’ve been experiencing the frenemies who are always watching your social media but never likes a post. Sies man!

I know it’s easier said than done. I’m also struggling with cutting people completely out especially if I have a history with them, but you only have one life and who wants to be the supporting actress in their own movie?

Ignore the ‘friends’ who don’t get happy or excited when good things happen to you and spend more time with the ones who are always there for you, no matter what.

Jeanne, Nicola, Roelien, Annemi, Clarise, Carli, Nicolette, Deneal, Zazu…. and mom (duh!) Thank you for loving me just the way I am. Without you guys, everything would’ve been pointless.

Always, Anne

Take Me To The Weekend

There’s nothing better than using the #FriYAY hashtag on Instagram!

“I wish life had a rewind weekend button.”

Here’s 5 reasons why I love the weekend.

  1. Getting to see more of my hubby! We both work full time and go to a lot of events and launches in the evenings, so on weekends we love to cuddle up on the couch with comfort food. That’s just our thing. (Don’t judge!) #okayyourejuding
  2. Parkruns! I live for our Saturday morning parkruns. It’s a 5 km run where runners sign up for free globally to do a lekker parkrun in their preferred neighbourhood. I hate it when people say they don’t have time to work out. No one has time, but you call it prioritise.
  3. Skinny cappuccinos. I always look for an excuse to have my daily dose and weekends are perfect to try out new coffee shops. Cape Town is known for their massive coffee culture  for a reason.
  4. Sleeping in- because snooze buttons are so overrated. #gimmeabreak
  5. My fulltime job requires my even fuller time digital attention spam so on Saturdays and Sunday I love to need to give my  online thinking cap a break. Nothing better than exploring the country side with a beautiful hike or sipping on a skinny cappuccino (yeah, I really do need my daily dose) somewhere with a beautiful view. Total bliss!

In Retrospect

Stop. Think. Repeat.

“Her heart was a secret garden and the walls very high”. William Goldman

Life is busy but that’s just life. Sometimes you have to take three steps back and just appreciate the one you have. You don’t need a yoga retreat in India to do get some retrospect over your current situation.

I personally love to wander around the city streets with a skinny cappuccino and just forget about everything that’s going on in my life. Other times going to the gym or staying in bed with a new book or fashion magazine does the trick. And if all else fail… cheesecake! (another guilty pleasure)

So Today – Get out there, find your ‘sanctuary’ and never ever get so caught up in life that you forget to live.

Always, Anne
